Hello, Beauty One — welcome back to the studio! If you're watching this the week it airs (August 5th), thank you for being here — and yes, I just celebrated my birthday! I took a little break from painting to recharge by the bay under my favorite tree with fruit smoothies and quiet time in nature. The weather has been surprisingly cool and beautiful for August — and all I want to do is soak it in. This week's Artist Diaries episode is filled with peaceful, creative moments: 🌿 Special Offer Tuesday Painting 🖼️ A small, soulful painting session 🔨 Adding hanging hardware to a vintage frame 🛍️ A relaxing thrift store hunt + art haul This week’s Special Offer Painting is a landscape inspired by my many visits to the Blue Ridge Parkway. I named it “Willow’s Hollow Overlook” — an 8"x16" oil painting on linen canvas paper, available at a special price for one week only. 🎨 Willow’s Hollow Overlook 🖼️ Oil on linen canvas paper 📏 Size: 8” x 16” 💲 Price: $75 + shipping 📅 Available: August 5–August 12 only 📩 Comment or message me to claim it Thanks again for being here and sharing in this quiet, creative life with me. Art Sale | Thrifting | Starting a New Painting | Artist Diaries
Welcome back to my studio. In this episode, I start by reconnecting with nature — birds, clouds, and a few quiet moments before the brush meets the canvas. Then I share a special offer available this week only: ✨ Two original 6x8" oil paintings on canvas paper — available from July 22–28 for $55 each + shipping. Message me if you’re interested! Next, I take you along on a little treasure hunt at a local Habitat for Humanity ReStore. I'm always searching for vintage frames... but today, I found something even better — an antique print of a Victorian beauty that captured my imagination. I’ll be using her as inspiration for a new Backwards Beauty portrait. Back in the studio, I prep my canvas and walk you through the early process — from setting up my projector to mixing paint. Then we jump into a timelapse of me painting Beth — a barefoot summer soul in a lacy dress — while I reflect on the magic and mystery of creating art. The painting isn’t quite finished yet… so for now, it’s To Be Continued.
Prepping for my Collection Release
In my studio this week I am working on finishing up paintings getting them ready for my Collection Release. I have been working on a painting series called Backwards Beauty. This week I am signing, toning and fixing a bunch of paintings. Also, I have a special offer for a limited time to get one of my original paintings at a very low price. From July 8th to July 22 I am offer two small paintings at $50 each + shipping. This price is way below what I would normally ask for them so if you are interested reach out to me. Leave a comment below or go to my website and send me a message.
Come Antiquing with Me | Tips on Sourcing Frames | In the Studio with Jan
This week did not go as planned so instead of sharing with you my latest painting I am taking you shopping with me. We are visiting one of my favorite antique stores call Savage Mill, which is located in an old Historical textile Mill. Then I will take you to two thrift stores. At the end I share with you my haul and also my tips for sourcing frames. I source mine from many different places, facebook marketplace, eBay, thrift store and antique stores. I also share with you how not to get scammed if you just not sure about the seller.
